How to Prepare Manuscripts: Little Blue Book No.1143

Publisher: Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, 1927
Paperbound, stapled. Little Blue Book #1143, 32 pp. Things have not changed much in the last 70 years. The plight of editors remains the same, as Milburn indicates after observing mail arriving at Haldeman-Julius: "There, day after day, I saw the editors' mail cascade from strong cloth sacks. If there is any more disheartening spectacle in the world, I do not care to witness it while I'm young." Nor has much of anything else about the writing world altered: "A great multitude of people writing, writing, endlessly writing -- writing in city cellars and in lonely farm houses..it was a rare mail which brought anything but evidence that the amateur writer was the most child-like, the most gullible, the most addlepated creature in the world..the ones on whom the correspondence school and fake 'literary burueau' sharks grew round-bellied." Here's the REAL George Milburn handing out advice on manuscript format, submission procedures, etc. Cover faded, top right corner cover diagonally chipped, tiny corner chips to a few initial pages. Internal pages yellowed. Good. Paperbound Good 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall

LIFE AMONG HOLLYWOOD'S 'EXTRA' GIRLS: Little Blue Book No. 755

Publisher: Haldeman-Julius Company Girard Kansas 1928
